Welcome to "Nice in New York"
Since its opening 30 years ago, Chez Jacqueline has managed to capture the real and true flavors of the Côte d'Azur. Located on MacDougal Street in the West Greenwich Village, the charming neighborhood bistro offers simple french regional cuisine, sustaining food for which Nice is famed. Whether it's the traditional 'soupe de poissons' served with garlic croutons and rouille or the Daube Nicoise, tender braised beef in a pungent, red wine sauce, Chez Jacqueline's provencale cuisine is as close as one can come to "Nice in New York".
West Village's Premier French Bistro
In contrast to the nearby and bustling Houston Street, the restaurant has a quiet and unassuming atmosphere. The décor is simple, warm and glowing with pastel-colors remiscent of the tones seen in the architecture throughout the Côte d'Azur region of France. The walls are a delicate mustard hue embellished by hand-painted frescos like the rich palette of villas overlooking the turquoise sea in Monaco or Saint-Tropez. Our new central banquet table brings authentic communal-style dining to the restaurant spanning the length of dining room. It is the perfect setting for group parties, birthday parties, corporate events or to simply dine in a warm, familial atmosphere amongst your fellow diners casual style--unique to New York and French Restaurants in NYC. Smaller more intimate bistro tables still pirouette around the central dining spot, many under the large table side windows thrown open in summer. The place to dine for people watching a favorite French sport and what could be more perfect than at a lovely New York bistro in Greenwich Village. A bright Mediterranean blue awning shades outdoor café tables covered in Souleido-type prints and outdoor dining is a relaxing way to pass the time. We invite you to join us to enjoy the weeknight dinner specials Chez Jacqueline has to offer--our Wednesday Steak Night is a wonderful repast to dispel the midweek doldrums.
