...since its opening 30 years ago, has managed to capture the real and true flavors of the Côte d'Azur.Located on Macdougal Street in the West Village, the charming  neighborhood bistro offers simple (direct) sustaining food for which Nice isfamed.Whether it's the traditional 'soupe de poissons'served with garlic croutons and rouille or the Daube Nicoise, tender braised beef in a pungent, red wine sauce, Chez Jacqueline's cuisine is as close as one can come to Nice in New York.
West Village's Premiere French Bistro
In contrast to the nearby and bustling Houston Street, the restaurant has a quiet and unassuming atmosphere. The décor is simple, warm, and glowing with pastel-colored walls that are embellished by hand-painted frescos.
A bright blue awning shades café tables covered in Souleido-type prints. During the warm weather, people watching becomes more than just a French sport.
Tables adjacent to a wall of large open windows allow for more street watching, mixing outdoor atmosphere and comfort.
